Sippy Cups
I think Jesse is ready to start using a cup but I don't know which one to use. We have this one but he can't seem to figure out how to get the water/juice out of it. If I take the valve out he can drink from it but it come out so fast the liquid mostly gets all over him. Anyway I thought all you veteran mom's would have an idea of a good cup for a lazy baby that want to do as little work as possible! Jesse is crawling everywhere and always wants to play/put things in his mouth he shouldn't. I hear this is normal but I feel like a chicken with my head cut off running around after him making sure he doesn't eat screws, gum wrappers, trash in general (from the trash can of course), string, plastic bits, twist ties and the broom. Just to name a few. Help please.

Such good luck in fact that at 3 he doesn't want to drink from a regular cup most of the time... but we're working on it :)
Basically, the little one just hast to suck or bite down on the nipple and the beverage comes out. The only problem we had with J was that he liked chewing on the nuby so much that it made the holes bigger so we had to buy new nipples for them which luckily they are sold separately!! Good luck with finding what works best for you.

Had the same problem with Andrew when he was about 10 months. He would not only not drink out of a sippy cup but he also would not hold it. I tried giving him the drink without the plug and had the same problem. What worked well for Andrew was getting plastic disposible, non splill, sippy cups. They are easy to suck b/c they don't really have a plug but the liquid does not come out real fast either. They will drip if turned upside down but I have never had the top fall off and Andrew has thrown the cups many times. (They come in a stack of six at Meijers and you can get different colors)
Andrew is now 13 months and has no problem drinking out of any sippy cup and he stared holding his own cup and tilting his head back at a year. I worried that I would never get rid of the bottle and he now only has a bottle before bed and drinks milk fine out of a cup.
We liked the Nuby too. Had the same problem with the hole getting bigger.
Sippy cups are just a whole frustrating topic. I find most of them to be hard to clean, likely to leak, or hard to get the liquid through the spout. With Ally, I'm trying to get her to drink straight out of the cup so she can use a regular cup with our help for everything but water. For water, we'll probably buy another Klean Kanteen sippy cup (Becca has one--http://www.kleankanteen.com/2products/klean-kanteen-12oz.html). It's not completely leak proof, but it's easy to clean.
When I was little I don't think we had sippy cups, but I'd have to ask my mom. I know she had (and still has) Tupperware plastic cups with those sippy lids (I guess those were kind of sippy cups, but definitely not completely leak proof.) They were easy to clean, at least. :)
